Paving the way for more efficient and sustainable hydrogen production and use

Welcome to H2WIN – Innovators in Ethical Hydrogen Solutions.
At H2WIN, we are developing advanced enzymes — nature’s catalysts — to support the transition to green hydrogen—a versatile and clean energy carrier capable of transforming industries, transportation, and energy systems. By combining cutting-edge enzymatic technologies and a commitment to sustainability, we are creating innovative solutions for hydrogen production and use. Our enzymes are designed to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and support a more resilient energy future — paving the way for a cleaner and more inclusive world.
Why H2WIN?
Innovative Enzymes for Green Hydrogen Production and Use
Hydrogen is essential for the energy transition, offering a carbon-free alternative for transportation, industrial processes, and renewable energy storage. However, traditional methods of hydrogen production and use deliver limited energy yield, are costly, and reliant on critical raw materials like platinum group metals (PGMs).
H2WIN is developing proprietary renewable biocatalysts—enzymes inspired by nature—to replace PGMs in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technologies. Our innovations include: the Enzymolyser®, the EZYCELL® for enzymatic biofuel cell system and the H2GREEN. These enzyme-driven systems are designed to reduce reliance on critical raw materials and significantly improve the energy efficiency of hydrogen technologies.
- The Enzymolyser®: An enzyme-based system for generating hydrogen from water.
- The EZYCELL®: An enzyme-based system that converts hydrogen into electricity in biofuel cells.
- The H2GREEN system: A photo-enzymatic system that uses sunlight and water to generate hydrogen—off-grid.
Together, these systems improve the overall energy yield of the hydrogen cycle — from water, to hydrogen, to electricity, and back to water — reaching efficiencies of up to 80%, compared to just 50% in today’s best-performing systems.
H2WIN isn’t just improving hydrogen technology— it’s leading its revolution.

Enzymolyser®: Enabling Scalable and Sustainable Hydrogen Generation
The Enzymolyser® is a new class of catalytic materials to improve hydrogen production from water. Designed for Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysis, it replaces platinum group metals (PGMs) with sustainable enzymatic catalysts — enhancing energy efficiency, reducing costs, and lowering dependence on critical raw materials.
Energy Efficiency:
Laboratory demo project up to 20% higher efficiency in hydrogen production compared to traditional PEM systems.
Economic Sustainability:
Renewable enzymes significantly reduce reliance on critical PGMs, cutting production.
Environmental Impact:
By eliminating critical, resource-intensive materials, H2WIN’s solutions drastically reduce environmental harm and support a circular, renewable supply chain.
EZYCELL®: Converting Hydrogen into Clean Power
EZYCELL® is an enzyme-based solution for hydrogen-to-electricity conversion in biofuel cell applications. This system uses enzymes, such as hydrogenase and oxygen reductase, as biocatalysts, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to platinum-based electrodes.
Enhanced Efficiency:
Enzymes improve energy recovery during hydrogen utilisation, reducing energy loss.
